Charley Webb (2007-2013, 2014-2023) – He started going out with actor Charley Webb in November 2007. They have both co-starred in the television soap opera Emmerdale. He eventually proposed to her on Christmas Day in 2009. However, the duo decided to part ways in August 2013. They reconciled after a few months in April 2014 and later tied the knot in February 2018 at a ceremony held in Ripley Castle, Yorkshire. He is a former gymnast who was a member of the British gymnastics squad until the age of 16. However, he was prevented from pursuing gymnastics further after he broke his back while practicing on the rings. So, he subsequently started to pursue a career in acting.

Matthew Wolfenden was cast as Timmy Payne in an episode titled One Hit Wonder of the television drama show The Courtroom in July 2004.

He brought to life the character of Jason in an episode of the comedy-drama show Hollyoaks: Let Loose in October 2005. The show serves as a spin-off of the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks.

From 2006 to 2023, Matthew Wolfenden played the role of David Metcalfe (son of Eric Pollard) in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale.

Partnering with Russian ice dancer Nina Ulanova, he participated in the 7th season of the television series Dancing on Ice in 2012. He concluded his journey as a finalist for the season, competing against Hollyoaks actor Jorgie Porter and The X Factor contestant Chico Slimani. Matthew and Nina emerged as the winners of the season.
